Organizers have planned to raise funds in stages. The first stage is to offer immediate financial relief to those families that lost loved ones in last week's shooting. Organizers are in communication with the Fort Hood office of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to determine the best approach for the disbursement of funds.

An initial benchmark is to raise $100,000.00 for immediate relief. For the second phase of the relief fund organizers have turned to Saturna Capital's Amana Mutual Fund - one of the top performing mutual funds of the past few years - to provide long term investment services compatible with Islamic principles. The ticker symbols for the funds are: The Amana Income Fund: AMANX (Inception: June 23, 1986) The Amana Growth Fund: AMAGX (Inception: Feb. 3, 1994).
